In February 2016, an international mission of scientists from the the French Research Institute for Sustainable Development, and Ecuadorian Instituto Geofísico and the Instituto Geográfico Militar, was able to measure with great accuracy the height of Mount Chimborazo, a volcano in Ecuador, South America. They were led by the renowned mountain climber, Ivan Vallejo.
Ñan Magazine chronicled the mission and reported back on its findings. These prove that Chimborazo, when measure from the centre of the earth, is the tallest mountain on the planet – not Everest!
