For people whose lives are lived through rock n’ roll, this address is key: Calle Sucre and Azuay, number 10-76. An old man with a beard is carved into the wooden plaque that crowns the entrance, “El Viejo Minero”, (the Old Miner), a bar with craft beer of all kinds, posters of classic rock bands, shovels on the walls and live bands on Fridays. Founded by Max Faller, a retired miner with a need to share “good tunes” who passed away in 2007, the place lives on in his spirit, an unexpected House of Rock in Loja.
