An exciting custom menu brings traditional European techniques and Ecuadorian products together with quality service and ambience at this authentic corner for Spanish food in Quito, located in two different neighborhoods. You can visit them at Maitane Portugal or at Maitane Swissotel – the first private restaurant to become part of this 5-star hotel chain.

In Euskera (the language of the Basque region), maitane means to give love. Every dish will duly more than live up to this promise.

Maitane is committed to responsible, sustainable and innovative cuisine with ingredients sourced from small producers. It’s a restless guardian for the preservation of local food traditions and fair-trade. The restaurant is a proud and active member of the Alianza de Cocineros (Cooks’ Alliance), which encourages healthy, tasty and fair cuisine (as part of the Slow Foods international movement).

A lot of surprises await when you visit Maitane: wine tasting or flamenco shows, along with an extraordinary menu that results in an array of delights: from tapas (including tortilla española and chistorras), Galician octopus, lamb shank jarrete, herbal marc (a liqueur made from grape skin) and a cinnamon-infused, sweet pepper and star anise smoked in the glass just before it is concocted gin and tonic…
