To call it a microbrewery “boom” is almost a mild way to describe what has occurred in the past couple of years in Quito. Not only do we have hundreds of new craft beer brands, but countless craft-beer pubs have multiplied, almost uncontrollably.
In a country where big beer companies controlled the market up to a few months ago, since they offered production facilities able to offer sanitary registration, less strict dispositions have suddenly uncorked the hoppy goodness. And Quiteños have embraced the trend with enthusiasm, and it would seem there’s no turning back.
